Well my friend has his nice 400D, except the only problem is its silver.

Now us liking to take stuff apart and put stuff back together want to do it to his 400D in order to paint it black. Does anyone know of any service guides that give a break down?

Thanks,

Matt

hmm, make sure you use GOOD paint, or have it powder coated at a place that doen't use an oven. I have seen people powder coat cardboard!

Maybe instead of painting it black, you could get the rubberized armor they sell at Best Buy (and camera stores).

I saw some for 20 bucks at Best Buy this afternoon. I don't think I'm going to buy any, but it's probably good stuff.

Do any of you guys use it?

Here's a link to one company's. I would post an image, but they might not like it (even though it could steer business their way).

He has the rubber case but its not amazing the buttons don't have the same feel. And it would be high quality paint, no cheap stuff here! Well apart from the 400d! As far as we can see its just precision philips screws.

Hve you thought of finding a black one online (perhaps EBAY) that is broken and only good for parts, then switching out the covers?

Seems like a lot of trouble for just an annoying color change.

How about black fingernail polish, or that paint-on rubbery stuff you get at harware stores?

Thank you. bw!

Nah don't wana do a half arsed job with nail polish. The spares and repairs is a good idea, except that we will still have to strip the camera, and it won't take long to paint from there but we will have a look.

Well, if you're going to repaint it, go the full monty and so something crazy, like LA grafitti or something. Maybe a lowrider theme?

Have fun.
