SuzyView Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 18, 2009 06:47 | #25 I had the 10D after having an EOS 3 film camera. I was wondering why my images were not so wonderful. I had a lot of grain and the 1.6x crop factor limited my limited glass. I bought a 20D. That helped. I missed my EOS 3 quality still. Then I decided to get the ff 5D Classic after it was already out for about a year or more. I had a few L lenses by then. What a dramatic difference! My 5D images were as close to the film images, and the lenses were new again, much better. My 24-70 was wide, and my 17-40 was even too wide at times. Suzie - Still Speaking Canonese!

Here's your snow scene histogram: Anyway, I don't think any DSLR can truly handle the dynamic range in those scenes, you either have to sacrifice one end of the spectrum or use HDR technique to compress the range. That's not to say the 5D II isn't a great camera, or that it hasn't one of the newest and best sensors in terms of dynamic range, but it's still not capable of magic. ![]() Anders Östberg - Mostly Canon gear - My photos
