As always C and C welcome.

Great shots Shawn - although it looks like perhaps focus was off on a few. Did you use all the focus points? That may have been why.

I thought they were soft too.
I used my Sigma 70-200 and center focus.
Im wondering if the 7D needs to go to Canon?

There are many factors that could result in a soft image, so it may not be your lens/body. If I'm not mistaken, I do see some parts in-focus, so you may want to do a few controlled tripod tests on non-moving subjects and go from there.

Couple of pointers:
- You need to get low.
- do the PP work on them; some, if not all of these could use crop, straighten up those verticals, adjust lighting, colour sat, sharpen

IMO what you're showing from that shooting location, with no PP, look like they could be snapshots from any p&S.

Hi Shawn
I liked your pictures. I am 5 games into my hockey shooting career. I pasted some shots below so you can judge sharpness with the 7d. Both cropped to about half of original.

these were shot at f4
1/500
iso 2000 - (i'll shoot higher iso next weekend)
wb adjusted in LR
exposure bumped up .5 - 1 also
af - center point (tried point expansion but didn't like it - have to work on it)

this one would have been better at ice level (lower) as Darcy suggested. White balance also doesn't look great - or something.
