I really hate the camera strap about 50% of the time, but really love it the other half. I would love one that has quick release. I have the standard optech one, and the quick releases are about 1/3 the way down the strap. So it still leaves me with a lot of strap in my way. Enough that it is hardly worth it. Is there one that releases all the way at the camera? So maybe only some small loops are left and nothing to dangle in front of my lens or LCD?

Thanks.

I throw away the main part of the optech strap, and just put the little cord over my shoulder when I want to carry it. When I don't want to use a strap it's little and generally isn't in my way.

I'd be interested in the same thing; a quick release that, when released, leaves as little "strap" as possible dangling from the camera.

Why? Because sometimes I use my R-strap, and sometimes I don't. I'd like to have a neck strap to wrap around my arm when I'm not using the R-strap, but threading the OEM strap through again and again would get annoying.

PacSafe 100. Advantage is also thin steel cables that make it cut and grab-proof.

I do that too, but the strap is still almost as big as a regular strap and hangs in front of the lens and VF when shooting without the strap around my neck. Just what I want to avoid.

Looks very good, but a little more than I would spend for a strap.

I've been wanting to get one myself :)

Found it for $15.99: http://www.basegear.com …00-camera-strap-sale.html (external link)

S&H came out to be $5.95 for NJ for a total of $21.90

Looks legit: http://www.bizrate.com …_reviews__mid--37930.html (external link)

I'm still holding off on getting it though

I was looking at optech's site and they have all kinds of buckles and fasteners. I could probably rig something up that way too. Thanks.

I have one and it's convenient. You also might want to check out the Spider Holster, not a strap though.

From the same makers?

No, the spider holster is here: http://www.spiderholster.com/ (external link)

Kind of the same concept, but different means of carrying it out. All depends if you like your weight up high (shoulder, R-strap) or low (belt, Spider Holster).
