I've been going back and forth lately thinking about changing lenses. I would say 90% of my pictures are of my 1 y/o daughter (and I take a lot of them!). I mainly take candids, but my wife would like me to take more portrait style pictures. I also enjoy taking pictures of local wildlife (think zoo) and a little macro.

So, here is what I've been thinking...sell the 24 - 105 and do the following:

Canon 18 - 55 IS (for those times I need wide, probably 1% of the time. When I had the 28 and 85 primes only I almost always used the 85).
Canon 50 1.4 (owned in the past and loved the IQ)
Canon 70 - 200 4.0 (non IS)

This setup gives me the 18 - 200 range with a portrait lens and a great lens when she is outdoors and running around in the snow and grass. I do have the 430EX II flash that I don't mind using once in a while.

I did think about one of the tamron 2.8 lenses, but it seems like I would have to use my flash indoors no matter what to help with the focusing.

I may just keep my 24 - 105 since I love the IQ and color/contrast that I am getting with it. Wish I could just buy another lens and keep this one. :D

One other option is the 18 - 55 IS, 55 - 250 IS, Sigma 30 1.4, Canon 85 1.8.

If it were me, I'd go with the 18-55, 55-250, sig 30, and canon 85 1.8. It gives you the 55-250, which will work better for the zoo than the other options. In addition, you'll have the sig 30 and 85 1.8, which are great for portraits. The sig 30 is my favorite lens when shooting my daughter, who is 8 months. This option also provides you with a decent walk around lens at the wider focal lengths.

The other thing I like about this setup is the size of the lenses. I would easily be able to carry two, maybe three, lenses in my 5MDH.
