Hey Guys!!

Well, between work, dinner and school projects (kids) there's not enough time for shooting. Besides, when I get home in the evening, it's already dark out.

None-the-less, I always manage to do a little something as I study the 5D2 manual and learn from others online (like here). Ironically, I stumbled upon a you-tube video of Gary Fong where he said (while demonstrating his product), that "Many photographers use the top "clouded" dome (referring to the light-sphere) for creating a custom WB. He then placed the dome in front of the lens and fired a picture. Heck, I said .. why not? So I got home this evening and under severe tungsten lighting decided to give this theory a try. I did just what Fong mentioned (illustrated below) and came up with some really impressive results. AMAZING!

Images were NOT processed in any way .. just re-sized for posting purposes. All are in ISO3200 BTW.

Once again, these re not pics to brag about. I just found something (which may not be new news) which I thought I'd share.

PS: LOVE THIS 5D2!

You know, I really have no idea why this forum does this. I post several images and suddenly they disappear.

Anyway, here they are (this is a simple 5D2 test gallery). The last three images are the ones I posted here.

It's what's on top of the flash head. I used the dome cap on top to perform this exercise. Search Gary Fong and you can find these on eBay also.

Here's the video I stumbled upon which shows him briefly placing the dome-cap over the lens.

I've used mine without incident. Of course I NEVER hold my camera up by it as shown (always wear my neck strap). I photographed an awards dinner under VERY dim and tungsten lighting and the results were great. IMO of course.

Dave

I was thinking the same thing, she's supporting the entire camera that way?

yeah, Mr. Fong touts the strength of the mount by supporting a gripped xD with a giant lens. impressive, but not necessary.

OP, in the confusion, I got the same results by taking a pic of the dome around my light on the ceiling. LOL, thought that was what you meant. I suppose a clear plastic cup or somehting would produce the same great results.

They don't seem to know how to hold a camera properly? Or do you mean that white domed thing that is being held?
