C&C Please. My initial subjective thoughts wonder if its too much color on top, or maybe its too dark, but I wanted it to show 'late evening' in look. Your C&C is appreciated.

Taken with the new 7d 15mm, f12, 1/20 ISO 400.

Very good balance between the shadow areas and the sky lighting.

Very good composition and the exposure is right on.

Congratulations!

I have a feeling that the lit up portion of the sky had richer color than you captured. In trying to bring some detail out in the darkening landscape, I think the sky got overexposed. An HDR technique might work here. Or perhaps if you came back a few times, you might get a more dramatic sunset. Or simply waited a few minutes. When you're lucky, a sunset will have the magic moment when everything lights up at once. You just have to be patient. The setting is cool. However, it seems to happen more often than not that everything just fizzles out when those high clouds occlude the sun.

An interesting image to explore.

Personally I think the foreground while photo realistic could use a little contrast enhancement and a slight bump in mid tone. I think you can still capture the effect without making my eye struggle to see detail in the shadows while the very hot light in the sky continues to distract my attention. The sky color is saturated and the ground color muted. This seems like a fairly odd combination to my eye though there is movement in the differences between color saturation levels. Color junkies (I am one) will revel in the sky color while others will remember a day of toil on the farm in late fall (foreground). I think that is what makes this image interesting is that you are combining a muted old school farm scene with a saturated almost fantasy like sky. The silhouette of the tree acts as an anchor between each treatment.

Interesting interpretation. Thanks for sharing.

The more I look at it the more I like it ...
