After several days of rain preceding the event, the course was thick muck, despite originally being a grass surface. Slow, energy sucking mud in a slight drizzle. If you have ever raced in these conditions, you can feel the pain behind the blank stares of the riders in some of the shots. I could only stay to watch the women's elite race, but got to take some shots in between my kids' constant need for graham crackers, water, apples, knock-knock jokes... 
The winner was flying the entire race - made it look easy. Awesome. I also got a few shots of the beginning of the men's elite race.
