After several days of rain preceding the event, the course was thick muck, despite originally being a grass surface. Slow, energy sucking mud in a slight drizzle. If you have ever raced in these conditions, you can feel the pain behind the blank stares of the riders in some of the shots. I could only stay to watch the women's elite race, but got to take some shots in between my kids' constant need for graham crackers, water, apples, knock-knock jokes... :)

The winner was flying the entire race - made it look easy. Awesome. I also got a few shots of the beginning of the men's elite race.

All shot with 5D, 70-200L.

Fun! Here's all the pics I shot:

Great job here. Any particular reason for the see of yellow shoes in the last shot?

Because it's the fashion shoe of the season.

Nice shots.

Great pics. I imagine the shoes need to be bright yellow so they can pick 'em out of the mud at the end of the race!

This is a very impressive series. 1st: The emotions, expressions and challenge of the event are clearly obvious in every photo. Each photo shows a different perspective of the day and captures the grueling captures of the course. The backgrounds in each are almost perfectly blurred to make your subject "pop." Not tom mention the linear formations in 2, 4, & 7.

My only critique would be to crop out the camera lens in "run for the barriers."

Very nice series of cyclocross photos. I like the variety and strong details of your shots.
