Because I think they deserve a thread of their own ;) Obviously i've written these out long form, I think more in ideas than words.

"I wonder if I packed all the equipment for tomorrows wedding".

a second later...

"No matter, I have the 7D, 30 F1.4, a 16GB memory card, and a flash, I can get by fine with just that". (though i'm fairly sure I packed enough equipment to two weddings simultaneously)

And earlier in the evening

"I'd better reset the 7D down to ISO400 so I don't start taking photos at 1600 without realising".

a second later...

"Actually, it doesn't matter any more". (iso 3200 is probably better than iso400 on my first digital slr)

I have a windy wedding day tomorrow... fingers crossed! :)

How did it go? How do you like the 7D? I am interested in your opinion on the 7D as I am in the market for a 3rd camera. I love the 40D but would like to replace my backup 20d.

In the 24 hours leading up to a wedding I constanty check and recheck my equipment....I have got to relax a bit more.......

cheers Val

I have a wedding tomorrow starting inside a church I am not familiar with and the bride did not confirm whether photography was allowed. I have attempted to contact the church myself but got no response as of yet. After the ceremony I will have a 3.5-hour break until the reception; fortunately everything is fairly convenient for me as far as travel is concerned. It will be cool outside and I am going to be working with a cold. I have charged all of my batteries today and everything is ready to go for tomorrow, all arranged to put into my backpack. I don't have a 7D or any other new camera that goes up to ISO12800 or 25600 or 102400, so I get to pray that whatever light I get at the church is sufficient or I am allowed to supplement it with flash. Do I dislike church weddings? Perhaps.

I occasionally re-realize that the difficulty in having a 35L on 5D and 85L on 40D is not so much the fact that the 85L is too long on the 40D, but rather that the type of framing I typically do with the 85L on 40D requires me to be at a different distance from subject than the framing I typically do with the 35L on 5D.

The 7D focuses like a champ, better than the 40D for sure, and I use whatever focus point I feel like - and there are plenty to choose from. I don't worry about high iso any more either, ISO12,800 makes a decent 6x4" print, and i've done a 14x10" print in an album that looked ok from mRaw.

Unfortunately today I only took one of my 16GB memory cards, but I also had 3x8GB and 2x4GB so I was fine. Bridge supports 7D mRaw/sRaw now, so I used that quite a bit too - that'll reduce my archiving requirements :)

The DNG converter should give you the option to reduce the size of your files, but keep them RAW... hmmm.

Oh, I got to ride on a mini train, took photos of the bride on a flying fox (basically a thingy you sit on that flies along a wire), and had a good fun wedding day :)

Both 7D/30 F1.4/550EX in a 20" soft box. Background a stop down, people two stops down in the shade then lit with ocf. Processed in ACR with some dodging and burning using the k button. I forget the name of the tool.

I am curious why you didn't reduce the overexposure on the girl on the right; I would have evened it out with an exposure gradient in LR.

Great shots! The cemetery setting seems a bit odd to me, but obviously what they wanted.

No flash allowed during ceremony (acceptable), standard procedure for photographer's limits in positions. Not up front, not up close. My 70-200 came in handy today but even it was not able to get a completely sharp photo of the extremely quick B&G's first kiss. Really they should kiss for longer than 1/10th of a second if they're planning on spending their lives together.

The 70-200 f/2.8 IS not being able to get the shot at ISO3200 reminded me...why I hate zooms. However the 135L would've had not much better luck, probably being blurred by camera shake instead of subject motion.

Reception coming next, at 5:30.

'cause I like it that way. The original isn't overexposed, I bumped it a little.

Yep, that one confuses me all the time, too. Some couples will hold for 3 or 4 seconds, and others go so fast the 90ms shutter delay misses the shot. I even have had a couple brides say not to do kissing shots...hmm, there's a lot of passion in there somewhere... maybe?

Very strange, indeed.
