For those wondering what the inexpensive 50mm can produce under indifferent lighting.

Just because the nifty fifty's cheap doesn't mean it's not a capable little lens. Most people would find the focusing too slow for sports but you proved that it can still deliver great shots in capable hands.

If I can nitpick I'd say 1 3 and 4 could use just a little boost in saturation and are maybe just a tad too cool but it's really close. Nice stare on #1.

That's a different look to the lighting - your exif is gone, can't see what you were doing.

Did you have a strobe on that game? The shadows in the last two are not casting the same direction for two players so close together. I'm curious on the sources of light.

EXIF disappeared when the images were sent through Noiseware Community Edition.

Illumination came from the rink lights. They were the kind of lights that give different color balance during a 60Hz cycle, and each light also had a different color temperature - that's the reason for the different-colored shadows under the players. The varying colors from the rink's lights made white balance a compromise.
