Hi I am having real difficulty getting to grips with how this site works and I really want to get involved. Someone called Roy kindly told me yesterday how to post a thread so I did on about wet weddings but no one has replied so still not sure if I'm doing it right. Is there an idiots guide to using this forum please.
Lynne

Was it in the weddings section? May take some time for people to get to a response especially about a specific scenario. Also keep in mind many people here are here to learn so threads are read much much more than responded to.

Hi and welcome to POTN.

It can sometimes take more than an hour to gain some responses on a thread, especially if you're asking a fairly specific question, so don't worry about it too much - you've not done anything wrong.

Just take some time to browse around, learn more, post more. You'll get answers to your question in due course, I'm sure.

Patience grasshopper...a skill that you should practice. ;)
You may be answered in 5 minutes or 5 hours, no way to tell which when you post.

Another 'welcome' to POTN. Went over and read your post. Honestly, what you've asked isn't very common and quite unique to your specific situation. Could be why you've not gotten much response.

However, if you can only shoot outdoors and the forecast is for torrential rains, I hope someone has made a contingency for this in terms of a large tent, (possibly enclosed) have it decorated AND that you have ample lighting to provide. If not, shooting outdoors during a downpour isn't going to work for anybody.

Keep in mind the time you post as there are members spread all over the globe. Some may be sleeping when you post.

I've been on several car forums and POTN is FAR BETTER. People here are mature and very helpful.

If a day has gone by and no one has replied, you can post something like this to get it back to the top for more views.

+1 to this. People on car forums are to busy trying to be internet bullies and jackholes to help sometimes. But here I don't even have to post my questions, everything has been answered before.

Actually, no.

Please see 3.2 in the forum rules found here.

Patience and active forum participation are definitely the key here.

Welcome to the forum.

I would agree with the folks here - just wait a while and 9/10 times it will be answered (possibly in more depth than you expected.)

Welcome and don't worry. I remember my first time here. Like Pete says: Post, browse, comment. I can't tell you how much I've learned of what to do and what NOT to do from everyone in this forum. You're going to love it here, everyone is so helpful and they don't give you bull about anything.
