I went out to Willow Springs a few weeks ago and took some shots of the drifting that was going on on one of the tracks. C&C is appreciated

I would slow your shutter speed down and pan with the cars to get some motion blurr. If it weren't for the tire smoke it would look like they are parked on the track. Maybe a little tighter crop also.

Nice set of photos and I agree about the shutter speed. I'm no expert in photoshop but have added a bit of motion blur to the wheels - which you might consider doing to your pics in the meantime. A bit of trial and error should do the trick

ps this is my first attempt at motion blur

Though this does help a little in showing motion for the cars, you ultimately want the background to look blurred and the wheels to look like they are spinning in the picture. Check out some tips on panning to help with this.

Here is one I took at a local Formula D event. Canon 40D with 70-200mm f/2.8 on Shutter Priority set at 1/125 and 400 ISO.

PS: Your pics still look great for your first attempt.

Start out at about 1/400 to 1/320 shutter speed and work your way down as you get better at it. You can get some good results and a fair amount of keepers at these shutter speeds.

PS: Your pics still look great for your first attempt.

x2

1. 1/400 ...I think
