I have the Spyder Pro and a Dell U2410 and a Samsung 25" or so diplay - can't remember the model, but obviously it's a TN display. I have calibrated both using the Spyder pro and afterwards my wallpaper colors are different on each monitor. I thought that when you calibrate it would make both monitors look the same. It is very apparent in the reds on the Samsung - much more saturated looking than on the Dell.

I have read up on calibration and followed threads but still can't wrap my brain around it quite right. Another question I have is if my monitor is calibrated, why does the app need to be color managed as well? Is it that once calibrated it still is not sRGB? Gaaa.... I guess I should just calibrate and forget about it, eh? Lol!

Thanks
James

Is the Dell a TN? If not, that could be the difference???

I have pondered buying a NEC but need to do more research to
determine if I will see an appreciable difference vs. my Samsung.

I may not be the village idiot, but I'll do until
he gets here.

James, are you talking about a dual monitor setup on one PC or two different computers?

Dual monitors, one PC one video card. Sorry I didn't include all the info.

Sorry about the selective quote... but I'd love an explanation too...
You'd think that using the same calibration tool (whatever it is) that it would return at least "similar" results whatever the monitor, TN, IPA, IPS whatever.

Samsungs don't have the best reputation for calibrating well. I use mine (24") for non-critical work, and then fine-tune for output on a 21" HP -- not top-of-the-line, but it takes calibrationt better and it takes well to turning down brightness, whereas the Samsung does not.

Does the video card support multiple profiles? Nevertheless, the TN panel will never match the other.

Well, the Spyder Pro loads 2 calibrations and you can definitely see a difference when they are loaded. So I'd say yes. :-)
