I'll be shooting my kid playing in a ping pong tournament in 2 weeks. It's a one day event so I won't have a chance to check results and try different things on different days.

Is there anything in particular about shooting ping pong that I should know? If I had my choice, where should I stand, and would 50/85mm combo do the trick? I am pretty sure the lighting is flourescent.

Last year, I used a Lumix FZ50 with a shoe-mounted flash and the results were, well, you can guess :o

^^^^
Thanks Derek;
That thread was very helpful with the angle of shots, etc. I was afraid that I may want the 135 for the event, thinking that the 85 might be too short. I may rent one again.

No problem! Some threads are so good that they stick in your head and that was one of them.

Below is the best I could do. I used the 1DII, 85/1.8 lens, ISO 3200, f/2.2, SS=500-1000. I wish I had a 135/2 with me :( I'll break down and buy the dang lens one of these days. C&C would be appreciated
