What's your verdict? Did it come out the way you expected?

Marvelous and on a FF, no less.

The resolutions numbers across the frame are much more than I expected or hoped for. The same for the pricing, I had thought a couple hundred cheaper but it isn't a deal breaker for me.

Think I found my X-mas gift to me. :D

I really want to try this lens.. but at only f2.8 and over $1500, my first impression is over-priced.

I require low light lens for the stuff I do, and f2.8 is not impressive for a prime. I need to see if sharpness makes up for it. I might be a great candidate for video on my 5D.

I'm waiting until they also test the new EF 24 T/S so I can compare.

Me too - the 24 TSE II is showing itself to be a very sharp lens, edge-to-edge.

OOPs.....hold your horses. Just read the fine print. Not a test of the ZE. They used a ZF and an adapter. Sigh.

Why hold the horses? Same lens, different mount. Should not be a problem with a good quality adapter.

All focusing for the test is done manually anyway.

Kind regards, Wim

Kind of flase advertising. Photozone does say "adapted" in the title for some of their tests. So I go to the photo store and tell the clerk that I am a bit nervous about spending a lot on a new lens. I'm looking at the ZE 21/2.8. We have those but I do not wnat to open those boxes. Here's a ZF 21/2.8 with an adpater. Trust me, it is the same thing.

My question now really is why you of all people are worried about this, considering the number of adapted lenses you use?

I am really curious now ... :D

Kind regards, Wim

I know more or less about the quality of the lenses I use with adpaters. I'm interested in one without an adpater, a ZE. Just would like to see some tests of it. I could have gotten a ZF 21/2.8 with an adapter for a long time now. Maybe the exact same, maybe not.

It is. Same optics, same coating, same MF mechanism. Just different mount and automatic aperture, those are all the differences, o, and different printing on the box and different rear end cap :D.

In my mind the only question that remains is whether a good quality adapter was used.

Kind regards, Wim

I used this lens for 10 days and loved it. It is bright and sharp and built like a tank. I am slightly worried about mustache distortion which apparently is not all that easy to correct making it not the best choice for architecture. There is some barrel distortion too but that is manageable.
