Nice shots i think the 1st is the better.

Very brave with the camera he could have put the Q ball right through your 10-20mm:D

Nice shots indeed! I don't know about you but i wouldn't be confortable putting any 10-20 mm just in front of the shooter. :)
That's just me.

Awesome shots, I'm a big fan of pool (mostly 9-ball) :D
I totally want to try this now, maybe with an even longer shutterspeed and a bit of a bounce on the break.

As for the terminology above, I've always considered "billiards" the grouping term for pool (9-ball, 8-ball, straight pool and lesser played variants like one pocket, 10-ball and bank pool), Carembole (libre + 3-cusion) and snooker :)

some nice shots 360... ever considered 2nd curtain flash?

as far as Billiards the game is concerned, it depends on which part of the world you are from will depend on it's name and how many balls are used.... I was taught by an ex-world champion many (many) years ago using 3 balls (one red, one white, one white with a dot), this was the British version played in Australia.... Snooker on the other hand (another Brit game) is played with a white que ball, 15 red, 1 yellow, 1 green, 1 brown, 1 blue, 1 pink and 1 black balls... both great games, especially when played on full-sized 12 x 6 tables!

keep up the good work!

cheers,

jonesy

So if a ball had jumped into the lens, it had the potential to fracture the lens and knock the camera off the table? :) That took some nerve.

Believe it or not, but I've shattered a ball on a break. I kept it has a memory. It wasn't all that of a hard shot either. After that, I'd never have the guts to try that shot. But I do like photo 1. it would be even cooler if you could strobe it from behind the shooter.

thanks for all the comments.... i was gonna use a strobe but was afraid it would freeze the balls to much.
