I dunno if I have or not. Long story short, it was time for a change in my life. There was an opportunity presented by my bestest pal, and I took it, so here I am
Dunno where the road leads from here, but I am curious to find out! :D

I'm SO ready for a change in my life! But, I don't think it includes cleaning nasty homes... At least, I sure hope not!

I guess I'll keep looking for my new direction.

Hi Honeys!!! I'm home!:D:D:D:D Off to catch up. Which will probibly take me FOREVER!

HI!

cfpackerfan wrote in post #9098963 (external link)
Oh nonsense. A couple hours at the most. Well worth it. ;)

We sure did.
Would you believe that I didn't take one photo all weekend? NOT ONE.

It was accidental on Thursday, I was busy, and never had a chance to get my camera. That night we were visiting about it, and I was actually really enjoying my time without the camera stuck to my face.
So I put it away, and let everyone else take the photos this year.

I will regret it later.

I can see myself, a few years down the road, going through my photo files and saying "Where in the world are my photos from Thanksgiving 2009??!"

YAY! I'd love to see how it works.

We picked up Blue from the boarders today on our way home. The guy there today looked cranky and said only 'Blue is quite the handful. :| " LOL

We took Sacha with us (She had a BLAST and she was SO good!) and will go get the Doxies on Monday.

Oh, LOL! It's a funky little handheld video camera made specifically for doing little videos for youtube and such like that.
It's fun, and he uses it ALL the time with the dogs.
He used it all weekend, and it was hilarious.
I had no camera, Wade had this little piece of cheap plastic camera, and it was our KIDS who used real cameras all weekend and got the good photos. LOL

FUNNY on the kids taking all the pics thing.

I sold a disk last week. I told them (it was for one of the coast guard guys) that I just wanted the cost for the disk/shipping etc. But they sent me a check (2.5x what I quoted) and this note:

I got the disk safely today--thank you. I really do think your talent is worth paying for!

I had not realized before but some of the shots show my husband in the left front seat, and I can zoom right into his face. That makes it even better for his retirement present--and makes it even more "meant to be" because he's almost always in the right seat, where he wouldn't have shown up nearly as well.

I'm really jazzed that it worked out even better than they hoped. It's always nice to make someone happy.

WONDERFUL! That's a great feeling.

I thought we had NO internet or cell service where we were. I was wrong. We got back from Turkey day dinner and I had a couple text messages. One from daughter and one from Terri! Thanks, Dragon! Anyway, I could send messages out if I held my phone at the ceiling.

Edit: I seriously was trying to figure out how to string my laptop and aircard from the ceiling so I could get online.:lol:

Funny mental picture!

CrazieCricket wrote in post #9100144 (external link)
OHHHH I forgot to mention that we traded Art for Skye. Only for a few weeks though. The lady that Chris owns a dog with, raises Weimers. She is taking Art to work with him a bit and we have one of her dogs, Skye, to work with.:lol: So confusing. But, so far I like Skye better. She doesn't pull me all over the freakin place!!!! And is very unhyper.:D

Aww, unhyper is good. Want a couple kids? They'll make Art look like an angel.

In those situations I sometimes try to keep a steady stream of chatter going till I hit on something that loosens them up. I took about a dozen shots of my son holding his niece till I got this one. There are focus problems, but their facial expressions make it a keeper for me.

That is SUCH a cute pic!

Diane, sorry about the EHD failure. That sucks bad. Is none of it recoverable?

Hopefully it will ALL be recoverable, as they're insisting its the power supply. So....here's hoping. The new cord should be here next week.

We are doing a small tree for the first time at my house... because of Cooper. The boys weren't too disappointed. And I didn't have to finish decorating the tree alone because the boys get bored with the decoration process! hehehehehe We have non-breakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree just in case... In days of old, we always had a 'wag zone.' It was the area of the tree that the dog's tail could reach.... there were no breakable ornaments in that section... And occasionally an ornament would be launched by said dog tail!

The area where we were the artists are allowed to do their graffiti. We actually went to a different place and found a couple of guys doing some graffiti. They were inside a building... you could barely breathe in there!

Cute. And YIKES to the guys in the building. Neat that they allow them to "work" there.

sevillafox wrote in post #9107056 (external link)
Ugh. I can help you with some of that stuff....music not so much.

Yeah, I accidentally fell asleep when I put the boys to bed at 6pm so I got a bunch of sleep despite Ian's little wake up for a snack times and being smooshed between Aidan and Ian all night.

You're a dork. The music is part of what skeeves me....JUST spent a fair amount of cash on some.

I will have to check it out.

I am just so disappointed with the 5d. But as others have said it may have been the lens that caused all my issues. And I was surprised it only goes to iso 1600, I thought the 5d went to 3200. I'm rambling now....

It does....iso expansion.

thomascanty wrote in post #9107446 (external link)
Don't hurt yourself too much!

*appendages crossed*

I hope the power cord solves the problem for you. I've had a hard drive or two fail, and I know how frustrating it can be.

Thanks Lonnie, hopefully with the new system I can get a good backup system in place.

Skrim17 wrote in post #9107458 (external link)
good luck FP, I've never had an external drive fail and had a terrible experience with an internal one once...now I not only back up but save nothing to the internal drive in the first place!!

Yeah...I don't save a lot to the internal one in the first place...not enough space.

BearLeeAlive wrote in post #9107502 (external link)
That is a good one, what bright eyes he has. :D

I hope that works for you too. My current main backup EHD seems to have failed someone, my PC does not see it. I may just try using a USB cord instead of the FW one to see if that works. Otherwise, I'd better get another drive hooked up and backup. I usually always switch backup drives regularly and keep the other in my vehicle. I seem to have slacked off lately, not a good idea.

Try a power supply for it....seriously. Well, if that works on mine, that is. Sounds exactly like what happened. It would start up, but its apparently not getting ENOUGH power for the comp to recognize it.

Skrim17 wrote in post #9107592 (external link)
I need an economical bullet proof back up regimen. Any suggestions, in lay terms as I don't understand what RAID is, but I do know what SATA is.

I don't know what SATA is, actually.

I'm now in the process of transferring all my old Beta and other format video tapes to DVDs. Costs $20 a tape but some of the oldest ones are 30 years old and the data is going fast. They are all sparkly and the image quality is fading. The company that Costco uses though has some pretty decent equipment though. All the video is time base corrected and does not roll at least as they do when played on my old Beta machine.

I love Beta, lol!

Chet wrote in post #9107707 (external link)
Yes you can. They offer Smug Vault which you can save your RAWS too. Sure I have external 1TB drives for backup, but I have no off-site storage to protect against fire/theft/act of God protection.

Yes, however, mozy.com seems to be less expensive.

sevillafox wrote in post #9107818 (external link)
Well, with leapfrogs killer cyber monday sales I've finished christmas shopping for my kids.

Cool!

sevillafox wrote in post #9107950 (external link)
Oh, and I'm totally itching to do my christmas card shoot with the boys...I'm going to rip off my SIL's idea and get christmas jammies for them both and shoot them together with the build a bears my mom bought them when we went to the dells last.

Heehee, fun!

BearLeeAlive wrote in post #9108020 (external link)
Wow, up here in Canada it is still November. WAY too early for Christmas shopping yet.

HAHA, unless you have kids....it builds the anticipation and makes them soooooo much more cooperative! Besides, some of us generally have our shopping/wrapping done in August and are able to enjoy the season then. ;)

So, after exhausting every single possibility, and spending quite a bit of money to do so, Luna's mom was given the dignosis that she is irreversibly, unfixably allergic to Luna.
We visited for a couple hours, and we all agree that it's what's best for both of them. She was actually willing to live with the hives and carry an epi-pen, but ultimately if HER quality of life goes down, then so does Luna's.

You should have seen Luna when M walked in the house today. I've never seen a dog that excited in my whole life. She was happier than I've ever seen her.

M left while Luna was napping.
When Luna woke up, and realized that M wasn't here anymore, she literally freaked out. I know it sounds like I'm anthropomorphizing, but she was crying. I swear it. She ran from the back door to the window, looking out, and crying. She is a mess. :( It broke my heart. So Luna and I have both been sitting here crying.

We all know that there is no other way, and that this is what is best for both of them, but it didn't make it any easier on any of us. She and Luna had bonded so quickly, and so strongly.

So, Luna is back up for adoption.

Aw cwap, Cat. That stinks. :(

HAHAHAHAHA, ok, I giggled at that.

thomascanty wrote in post #9110716 (external link)
I just spent the past three or four hours driving around in the San Gabriel Mountains. CalTrans just reopened Angeles Forest and Angeles Crest Highways for the first time since the Station Fire back in August.

There's an awful lot of fire damage up there, of course, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was expecting. My favorite part of the mountain range, the "high country" above 5,000', is pretty much all completely unburned and still healthy. All my favorite old hiking areas are just fine.

There was a lot more snow and ice up there than I was expecting, too. Lots of slick corners on that highway today!

I had a camera with me, but I didn't stop to take any photos. I just wanted to see my mountains. I wasn't really in a mood to document the trip. Maybe next time.

Sounds lovely, but I'm glad you were ok!

Not going to post shots here of this horror (believe it or not, not the worst of what I have mucked).

GROSSNESS WARNING!!!

CLICK (external link) if you dare.

Ewwww, that makes my house, before the cleaning we just did, look darn near pristine! I also think that I'd be willing to lick off of my floors if that was my other option.

Permagrin wrote in post #9111318 (external link)
That is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

My first thought: can it be cleaned?
My 2nd thought: is that carpet that is black?
My 3rd thought: was this a drug house?
My 4th thought: who could live like this?
My 5th thought: I think I'm going to barf.

That's about what mine was as well, minus the barfing. Now had we been there for the smells that I'm sure accompany it.....well....Terri, ya gots my respect, for sure!
