I listened to a guy yesterday phone in to a talk show where they were discussing clearing the snow from city streets. I guess the guy went to stop in a school zone and slid a bit even though he had good tires. He had a couple sand bags in his vehicle, got it out and proceeded to put some down at the intersection to aid people in stopping, and a bylaw officer happened by, telling him to stop at once, that it was illegal for a citizen to do any type of work on a road, and he could get a $500 fine for doing so. It really strikes me as idiotic, that this bylaw officer would not just look past the legal technicalities of this good deed, and move on, instead of trying to be the big shot. What about the safety of the kis? Some people, I tell you.

Gotta love those wonderful bylaws...

The cops here in Boston don't do a thing... $1 fine for Jaywalking - where i've never seen anyone stopped here (though I was stopped at the Washington Mall back in 2002 for jaywalking when there were no cars about...i was given a stern telling off!!)...Cops don't care about drivers with no seatbelts on, speeding AND on their phone - heck they do it themselves :) And when you lift a finger to help out...you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Did you check Google before you thanked 'em?

Um.. no.

By the way, an apple a day does NOT keep the Dr. away, it makes the doctor tell you, "You are having problems with your sugar levels, eat more protein"

That's the Tif-ucius wisdom of the day

And if you eat too much protein they tell you something else. No matter what you eat the docs are going to tell you it's not healthy and you need to change your diet.

Yeah, they're working on a Chet filter, but apparently it isn't implemented yet.

I wish there was an anti-google. I would like to search for some things then filter out some others. Getting 5,000,000,000,000,000, hits is not helpfull.

oh my gosh, the cutest thing just happened.

I was on the cell phone with Tif and Dan called the house phone (since I hadn't picked up the beep on the cell) so I hung up with Tif and was talking to D on the house phone. He wanted to talk to Kona (Kona likes to hear his voice) so I turned on the speaker and he talked to him for a while. K was super attentive, looking at the phone while Dan talked. So then during this, Hale had to go out to go to the bathroom...K went with her. I finished my phone conversation with Dan and let them both back in. Kona went over to the coffee table where the phone was, picked it up and went over to exactly where he was standing when Dan was talking to him. He dropped the phone on the floor, squatted down (bum in the air) and went "woof" (he doesn't bark as a rule) right at the phone. He wanted to talk to his dad. It was SO STINKING CUTE! And he is one smart dog!

But, you gotta believe the people at Dan's work were equally amused to listen to him barking into the phone.

LOL! When Dan is talking Kona doesn't say anything...just listens. He only barked that one time, to get Dan's attention (the phone was off...D had hung up).

How about the guy in Britain that was arrested, charged and convicted for turning in a shotgun he found on his property? Apparently the law is so strict that by taking it to the police instead of calling them to come and get it he was guilty of illegal possession.

I think this is the best solution for now. I hope she can find the peace she needs to be happy again. Not to pry, but something must have happened to her to put her in this state, I pray therapy can relieve her from this pain.

Paula, I'm really pulling for your mom, in hopes that she gets the proper treatment needed.

Thank you everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping that she gets the help she needs also. Sure would be great to get my mother back and have her happy again.
Sorry if I missed quoting anyone, I tried to get you all.:)

Does anyone know what happens if you order prints from smuggy, have them sent to someone else, but that someone else is never home to get the delivery? I ordered prints and had them sent to daughter. I didn't know that they were going to send them via UPS and that they had to be signed for. When I order for myself they come in regular mail.
I figure UPS will return the prints, but do I contact smuggy or the lab they use to find out what is going on?

When I was a kid one of my not so bright friends did that but to a train rail. He too got stuck but was able to RIP his tongue off when we told him we heard a train.

That'll do it!

One of the things that really gets me pissed, is when people either can't, or don't, use common sense in a situation. This following the law (or in some business cases their guidelines) to a tee without allowing rational thought is just plain stupid.

Do they not just take them to their closest office where she would pick them up. Here they try to deliver twice, and after that leave you a note where to come pick them up.
