Good Morning. Did you know today is "National Share Your Road-Rage Day?"

I didn't either. Special thanks to the two jerks who reminded me of that.

First, as I leave home I get to the intersection between the road I'm on and the access road to the freeway some jerk pulls up to my left blasts his horn at me and cuts me off, only to slam on his brakes at the end of the onramp nearly causing me to rear end him (Thankfully, my car has good brakes!)

Then, as I make the turn from the freeway to the road to work, I hang back a bit to allow an 18-wheeler to get through his turn when some jerk blasts his horn at me and flashes his high-beams at me.

Sounds like you need to speed up if everyone is honking at you.

That's cool! What is smokeless powder?

It is the type of gun powder used in most modern firearms. Gun powder as most of us know it is a coarse black granular powder. It comes in different coarseness which makes for different burn rates. The finer the powder the faster it burns. In reality it all burns very fast. Think POOF and a cloud of smoke. It burns at the same rate if it is confined or in open air. Smokeless powder contains different ingredients, comes in flakes, balls, or little cylinder shaped grains. It is manufactured to burn at different rates for different applications. It burns pretty slow and with minimal smoke if it is in open air but when confined burns much faster in a reaction that increases speed exponentially as pressure and burning increases, still producing little smoke. Smokeless works good for photography because of the slow controlled burn rate and lack of smoke.

And, no, TJ's started somewhere else. Not sure where. We only a few in the state - mostly in Portland. Our closest one is 40 minutes away. Even though I live in the 2nd largest city in the state - and it's the state capitol - we don't have one. :( They say our median income is too low. I know that it would do really well here. So many folks from here drive to the one I mentioned above.

Everyone I know loves TJ's. I just can't get into it. I keep going back in hopes I will like it but I don't find much. I might walk out with some yummy obscure cookie or something but as far as food, not so much.

Hi folks

Its been a long time since I went to school but I seem to remember that no matter how much heat you try and put into water you can't get it above 100 degrees C at sea level as above this temperature it turns to steam :-)

Myth Busters did something a while back with exploding microwave water. Seems that if you heat pure distilled water in a micro it can get right up to the edge of boiling 100c without actually boiling. Then by tossing a sugar cube in there the cup of hot water explodes.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Fresh, shelled edamame?!

Try the Thai Curry Sauce or their salsa is fantastic too. I think lots of their stuff is excellent.

Super heat distilled water in the microwave for 10 minutes. Just don't touch it with anything metal or it could explode but the water should stay toasty for quite some time. Use welding gloves and other protective gear whilst handling the container.

Is it not true that warm water will freeze faster than cool water due to the Mpemba effect(yeah I looked it up)?

Did I mention to you all that the County donated a HUGE amount of fencing to us? It was quite the big deal. Lorraine's husband, Jim, went to the council meeting and asked for it, and they said yes! It is fencing that was around a dumping area that they closed down a while ago.
It's a LOT of fencing. A few acres. We had to have unanimous approval from several city mayors, so it really is great that we got it!

We got a company to donate a bunch of men and hours, and equipment, to help us remove it.

Tomorrow is the big day.

We're talking back hoes and semi trucks. WOOT!

This fencing is going to be GREAT for us. We will be able to build several exercise yards at Apple Valley, and we are giving enough to one of the shelters that we work with so that they can build an exercise yard as well.

I'm SO excited about it, but REALLY should be in bed getting a little sleep. LOL. Will be a long day tomorrow.

Cool! If I lived closer, I'd come help...

Wouldn't be a very good idea here today. It's raining and the traffic is bad enough already.

We got a little overnight, but so far nothing today...

Things are a bit tense right now. Lisa just finished a book series and is now attempting to find the "next" series to read. Things get a little on edge when she's in book limbo like this.

My Calvin and Hobbes suggestion did NOT win me any points.

Want to keep her occupied for a while? Try THIS (external link) one...

Doesn't surprise me... I've shot a couple of missile launches in the past. One of them made it into the current POTN book.

His philosophy was intriguing..... "You can take an average photo of an extraordinary thing, or an extraordinary photo of an average thing."

That cover shot certainly accomplished the latter...

Isn't black powder classified as an explosive while smokeless powder is classified as a propellant?

Okay I did buy edamame there once which was good. I think it is I don't do much packaged stuff. I mean I would buy some salsa or something but I guess if I still have to go to the store to get dinner I am not much inclined to shop there. I am sure I will try again, everyone raves about it.

I think Mythbusters is really stretching things a bit lately. In yesterday's show they tested the "myth" about whether a bus could jump an incomplete stretch of freeway like they did in the movie Speed.

I mean, come on! Was there really anyone on the face of this planet who thought that was even remotely possible and not just a totally unbelievable movie stunt?!? Why didn't they just come out and admit from the start of the show that they just wanted to wreck a bus?

and their pizza dough and their bock and their little trays of frozen cilantro and garlic and basil and and and and and

it's my favorite grocery store :D

But Zane has a point too, we go there for speciality items, not for the bulk of our shopping
