I'll be curious to see if he likes mouse. Was he coming at you for a reason? ;)

I have seen a few Barred owls here, but they are so mellow, they just sit there and let you walk around the tree and take all the pics you want. No opportunity for in flights. :)

Extremely nice, handheld? It looks like it, I'm working on moving away from fuzzy BIF's to recognizable pics;)I need lots of practice. Are you auto focusing or manual?

There was another owl poster a month or so back, who studied owls for a living, and baited to do it. He said the little horned owls will come take it right from a gloved hand. Personally, I do not get the whole arguement. It's as if Pileateds eating suet in your yard are OK cause they aren't raptors or something, but you can't feed an owl a mouse. I can't quite figure out if it's about the owls rights or the mouse.

Nice captures Mike. I'm looking forward to your next set. And by the way we just had a first reports this week of Snowies settling back in for the winter.

That head on shot is sensational Mike. What a bonus to have him staring down the barrel of the lens.

Beautiful bird & shots... great find & capture... when you say you "hung out and waited", do you see the barred quite often?

I hear them at dusk and at night, but the last time I saw one flying is when he took a red squirrel out of my hanging open bird feeder in mid winter.... :)

They are both great shots, but I find the first one more visually appealing.
