Looks good Rob. Is that the new version of the hitech? I'm gonna grab one. They say it performs just as well as the lee big stopper. Less chance of it falling and smashing into pieces as well.

I got a photography "noob" question: How long you have to stand in the shot to look like a ghost in the picture? For example, for a 30 second exposure? maybe 2 - 5 secs? Any help would be appreciated.

The way it was described to me, think of it as "opacity". If you stand in a 100 second frame for 10 seconds, your image will be 90% opacity (or however that's said). So i would think as Scapevision said, about half would be a good starting point.

I hope i have that right, please correct me if i'm wrong.

You actually make a great and logic point, in regards of the "opacity" and the time of the exposure, makes a lot of sense. Thanks, definitely try it out and post results later.

Melbourne Dusk - looking at the city center from Southbank across the Yarra river.
A storm was passing the city that night and I really love the huge cloud moving in and covering the skyscrapers in darkness.

Nice ones kobe and ryan! You guys are making me jealous, I haven't even been out to shoot once this year; let alone use a 10 stopper. I was getting worried about the big stopper being in a soft filter pouch inside my bag. I tried to make a hard case from a cd case but it did not seem to close up tight. I ordered one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com …lastic_Filter_Case_E.html (external link)from B & H; fits nicely!

Thanks :)

I would be paranoid about a big stopper - I only have screw in filters, and I have enough trouble keeping them clean and free from scratches, I think I would want some sort of hard case also.

Yes this is correct, opacity is relative to % of total exposure time.

Thanks CB! Yeah i was pretty paranoid at first when I got the filter. I use one of the Adorama filter bags (holds 5 filters), but stuff the Lee mount and holder in the front sleeve and this makes the bag quite rigid..... but let me know how you like it (for getting the filter in and out of it), because that would be great for backpacking trips were I only take one grad and the BS.

My CPL has an indicator where the "top" is so I know to put that indicator to the top where I want the effect, if that makes sense. If yours doesn't have a mark, I would put one on it, it's very handy.

So I compose the shot, put on the ND110, followed by the CPL and I rotate until the mark is in position and fire away.
