quick shot from me.... this is my first effort and so far I'm making do with a number 10 welding glass which I believe is equivalent to a 10 stop ND.

This shot is a 3 image stitch. It's not as sharp as I'd have liked but it was taken in pretty strong winds. Not bad for £2.00 though.

Thanks! Last week for 4 nights. My wife and I are entertaining the possibility of moving to Scotland to attend the University of Edinburgh. They hosted a meet-and-greet informational for those who had already been accepted, so we thought it best to be apart of it.

We drove back on Saturday, during the blizzard and got stuck in Philadelphia. They measured 28.5 inches of snow. I honestly hope I never see another flake this year! Especially here in Raleigh! You know how even the slightest amount here turns things into a fiasco.

Where is that?

I have seen the idea for welding glass elsewhere on the forum, did you have any issues with magenta colour cast?

Nice! I was there a few weeks ago and I didn't have a chance to shoot anything. Most of my time was spent with family. :)

I agree about the fiasco with snow and weather here. It's amazing that people who are from NY/NJ think they can drive on these icy roads. Unbeleivable! Anyways, I hope you get into the University. You'll definitely love shooting in Scotland. :)

Criccieth Beach. Welding glass gives a pretty strong green cast actually. Pretty simple to resolve before RAW conversion. It's quite thick glass though and can let light creep in easily. Not bad for £2.99 though!

It was actually my first time using the 17-40 since i bought it after christmas :P I have only been working with lenses longer then 50mm till now and doing mostly flowers and food ..

Now im looking forward to summer!! This was fun.. But, i messed up with the aperture, so the background is actually oof, and it shows when viewed larger..

Oh yeah so it is, i knew i recognised it but couldn't quite place it, i think a sundown opp could be on the cards next time i am in Snowdonia.
Out of interest, this welding glass is it sourced from a shop or a website?

I like the conversion Ken. I'm sori you missed the opportunity for good light. It happens to all of us. :) Hamilton park was a spot I frequently visited. Another spot to visit if you're ever in the neighborhood is Frank Sinatra park. Definitely a must! Here's a shot from that same area when I was shooting a 30D. :)

Thanks for the encouragement; looks like you (unlike me) made the most of your opportunity! Congrats!

Machinemart in Chester - they do them online too I think. They don't quite cover the whole diameter of a 77mm lens so extraeneous light intrusion is a problem.

I love this photo, awesome! I'm guessing you used some soft GND's as well and not just the ND filter?
