I normally forget to cover the viewfinder but have had situations previously with my 5d2 where I have taken a long exposure without it covered and there has been light leak on the resulting shot which I noticed straight away on the LCD and re-took with it covered. I think it depends on where the sun is, I'm sure that any time it's been an issue the sun has been low and directly behind me

I can't say I ever cover the viewfinder & I can't say I've ever noticed any light leaks. Maybe I've just been lucky with it.

I like the basics of 3 and 4. Amazing that boat didn't move a little more...and wow...dirty lens/filter...I recommend a lens pen, it takes no time at all, and does a better job than anything else I have tried...the little brush on one end works better than any air blaster/brush combo.

That is not a dirty lens that is a dirty sensor. It's easy to spot the difference.

^^really...I have had spots like that from a dirty filter/lens when shooting at really small apertures...not quite that bad, but my first few LE images were littered with them...that is when I learned the value of a good cleaning.

Without a doubt, looks like a dirty lens/filter to me as well.

+2. Thought I had cleaned my lens' (sensor cleaned 3x to ensure it was good)...til I went out for a hike / photography yesterday.

Found that both my 16-35 & my 24-105 were just filthy (fog test showed me all I needed to know). Cleaned 'em this morning and will go out again tomorrow (hopefully) to test out and see if my spots are gone (thankfully, LR4 does a pretty good job of eliminating those that you can see & correct). Upper left side shows the dang spots...ugh!

got an email from B&H this morning...the 77mm adapter rings are in stock! I think I had submitted my order less than 5 minutes from getting the email...should be here in time for my trip this weekend....maybe I will get to use my new gear...I sure hope so...the foundation kit is sitting on my desk longing to be used...

Thanks for that. I've been looking for a 77 adapter for awhile. After seeing your post, went to B&H and got my order in.

you are most welcome...mine has already shipped and should arrive tomorrow...the LEE BS arrived yesterday, all nice and new, unopened...can't wait to use it and see the difference, I plan to do a side by side for whatever I shoot first with it.
