I took the opportunity to head back up to Bow Fiddle Rock on the Moray coast yesterday to see if I could get the sunrise.
I have realised that using a screw in 10 stop filter along with the lee grads is starting to become annoying especially if you want to recompose and focus. This then results in taking everything off the front of the lens, doing what I need to do and then putting it all back on. Really tempted by the Big Stopper and Little Stopper :) .

204 second exposure using the B&W 10 stop.

Wonderful shot and I know what you mean about screw in filters. I've got a couple with step up rings and wishing I had gone the other way!

With Sony and smaller manual lenses, I've gone back to my old Hoya 3 stop and B+W 10 stop from my pre -DSLR days of 2009.... These don't seem too bad but the B+W gives me magenta skies sometimes with the Hitech grad. Any other combination is fine.

Yeah the place I could buy the Haida filters in Australia is Fotogenic. Lucky you managed to find them on Ebay, I couldn't see anything decently priced on there. I've never actually been there, I don't travel outside the city much haha.

Thanks and yeah that does look good!

I still suggest you look at firecrest filters. I can't speak on price in Australia but it is cheaper in the U.S. Lee is a well established brand, but had a strong hold on the 10-stop market for far too long. They provide inefficient glass for their price and refuse to update production procedures because they still are the most recognizable brand. Hitech has similar roots as Lee, but if I'm going to spend the amount you are willing to spend I would want high quality glass with little to no color cast and the firecrest filter provide these qualities. While color cast is fixable in post, I want my photos to be their best straight out of camera.

I'm having difficulty finding "firecrest" filters. Do you have a link you can share?

I ordered my latest hitech filters from Amazon, but I typically prefer http://www.teamworkphoto.com/ (external link) for their filters. Only issue is that it is in the UK. They are also available at http://www.2filter.com/ (external link). Make sure you are looking at the firecrest line, they are made differently than the other line (which does have a magenta color cast).

We took a drive down too Mt Cook in New Zealand when the weather looked good.
And walked up to Hooker Lake, it was cold but a fantastic day.
The shot was using a LEE big stopper.

A wet day so I decided to try out this bridge shot.

I had a look for the firecrest filters and aside from eBay, there was only one place in Aus that were selling them. They also happen to cost twice as much as the Haida which is actually more expensive than me buying the Lee overseas from BH so I think Haida it will have to be.

Thanks for the input. Amazingly, the horizon is straight. The land in the background keeps creeping closer to the foreground as you move from left to right.

Picture was taken just after sunrise.
