It's my life and I'll get pissed if I want to.

A lovely summers morning sunrise this morning.

Using the Zomie 10 Stop ND Filter - not bad for $50 AUD.

This is arguably my favourite photo that I took in 2019. When exploring Torndirrup National Park on the south coast of Western Australia, I spotted this composition and went with a long exposure to create and ethereal moody effect.

I think you absolutely crushed it, I would be thrilled if my best shot of 2019 was anywhere near this fantastic!

Long Exposure Lighthouse

A staple location to visit if you want to see the beautiful pacific ocean scenery or watch whales and dolphins swim pass... I highly recommend visiting Point Vicente Lighthouse in Palos Verdes, California if you're staying close by... The mountains in the background is actually Catalina Island... 1Dx + 35L + Lee 105mm CPL + Lee Big Stopper + Lee 0.9 ND Filters (all stacked for 14.5 stops of light)... ISO 100, f/13 @ 4 minute exposure (bulb mode)...

:)

How I would have loved to get a shot like that! When we got there we hardly had any time because the gate at the parking lot was about to be closed. I only managed to get a couple of shots and then had to run all the way back to our car so it wouldn't get locked in. In the end we wouldn't have had to hurry at all because the gate could be opened from inside the parking lot at any time...

Great shot! How do you handle to noise on a 4 minute long exposure?

^ Shooting at ISO 100 handles the noise level quite well... Didn't need to apply any noise filtering application on post...

:)

I always recommend shooting at your lowest ISO possible for extended exposures, I typically start at ISO 50. Another factor is ambient temperature, if it is hot out, sensor noise created from heat will be exaggerated if it is also warm/humid outside.

Appreciate it buddy. Heading to Oregon here in a month and half to do some long exposure seascapes and been reading up a little more on Long exposure. From previous times, anything longer then a couple minutes led to horrible noise from sensor heat.
