How can I learn to do this type of photography?

Buy a Neutral density filter and take pictures during the day as if you were taking them at night...best way I could describe it

First you can start out by buying a 10-stop ND filter. Then attach it to your lens and go take some pictures! ;)

I like long exposures too but, if you don't have a good NR workflow, the image can be a wash. :)

Which is why I'm curious to see results from the bravest of the brave. :)

OK , got the #110 BW 10 stop. First shot with this . Although I was on a very limited time frame, i'm liking the results and can't wait for the weekend. iso 100 , f/8 at 90 seconds.

Thanks for all wonderful photos.
I'm going to get B+W 77mm #110 Neutral Density (ND) 3.0 Filter.
And I would like to get one or two more 'lighter' one.
Any recommendation?

I got the B&W 0.9 by mistake and love it. It's good for three stops. You can scroll back a couple of pages and see the sunrise I took with it.

Just pulled the trigger on a B+W 110 filter! $85 new/shipped. Can't wait to use it. I've only wanted one for about a year now :)

Just looked one up on BH and the 4x4 is actually not a bad price. Out of stock though and I'll be happy with my B+W 10 stop. Can't wait. I just broke my Hoya 2 stop on my last shoot (back pocket is a bad place to store filters). At the time I just had a 2 and 3 stop ND. Now will have a 3 and 10 stop. Down the road I may get another 10 stop for extreme long exposures. We'll see. Right now I am just happy to finally get this filter and pay less then half what it is at local stores.

Almost! If I stacked my 2 stop (RIP) 3 stop NDs and my 3 stop Reverse GND I'd get about 8 stops of ND. Most often not enough and I'd get heavy vignetting too stacking so many filters. Hope to remedy some of that with the 10 stop. Now the anxious waiting begins. At least I have NO free time in the future to shoot for myself and will probably get the filter before I do!

Then you come back and re-read how to properly calculate +10 stop exposures
