I'm a pretty big fan of the UD series bags, so when I saw the UD70 I thought it would be a great bag for gigs where I need to bring a lot of stuff, but don't want to bring my rolling case. So far it's been great for that, but it's a big bag, definitely too big to use as a causal photo bag, IMO. Just like any other ThinkTank bag I have, quality is top notch.

The only thing I was kind of disappointed in when I got the bag was the lack of dividers. My other TT bags have come full of dividers in all different sizes and shapes, but this bag came with very few, and none of them were long enough to span the width of the bag. Luckily I have plenty of dividers from other TT bags.

Anyway, I had this bag loaded up today so I thought I would take a few pictures to give people an idea of what it can carry.

Here's the bag with a 5D MKII body (w/ grip) on the left side, 70-200 f/4, 50L, 135L and 24L.

I put a 580EXII in the bottom of the slot where the camera goes

IMAGE LINK: http://www.timnosenzophoto.com …5/1/#720146172_3KhMF-A-LB (external link)

And here it is with 3 more 580EXII's on top of the lenses, along with my other 5D MKII with the 85L attached pacing down

So just to review, we have 2 5D MKII's w/ grips, a 70-200 f/4, 85L, 50L, 135L, 24L and 4 580EXII's

I also have 4 CP-E4's around the bag. 2 in the front pockets:

And one in each side pocket:

Top of the bag, all closed up:

And here's a side profile with a camera next to it for scale. The front flap is pushed out a bit because of the CP-E4's:

I hope that helps someone--let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the review - what a great bag! Do you have any idea what Pelican case would be the *perfect* fit for such a fully stuffed UD 70?

Think Tank Urban Disguise bags are outstanding! I have an UD 40 and it sure holds a lot of DSLR camera stuff. Build quality second to none. Quality product through and through.

Thanks for the review Tim. One question, would a 70-200 2.8 IS fit instead of the f/4 with the same lenses and arrangement that you have in those photo?

I have the UD60, not UD70, but I can only assume the build quality is the same. I fully expect this bag to last me forever, the quality is impeccable. Heavy, rip proof fabric, large solid zippers, high quality fasteners. I can't fault the quality in any way. Think Tank makes the absolute best quality bags available (apart from billingham, but I wasn't counting super expensive leather bags).

Not sure, to be honest. I'm not that familiar with Pelican's line.

It would fit in the bag, but I would probably opt to put that lens on the camera. Reason being is then I could put a shorter lens in with the others and still stack the Speedlites on top of them. Also, the hood on the f/2.8 version is pretty wide, so having it where I have the f/4 version would create less space for the other lens hoods.

ThinkTank's bags are really top notch, excellent quality bags.

you mean have it mounted on camera? will it fit mounted on a 5D2? Will I be able to fit another body on one of it's side pockets where you have those batt packs?

This looks like a UD 60 without the laptop compartment. I have a UD 50, a great bag.

i'm trying to tell if its slightly bigger than the 7 million $ crumpler I have. i would like a tad more room than it offers. comparing measurements they look about the same but the UD 70 looks bigger, which is want I want.

any one seen these 2 bags side by side?

It should, but I don't have one to test. TT has a picture of a 100-400 next to the bag, which I believe is about the same length as the 70-200 f/2.8

Maybe a smaller xxD body. Depending on how packed the bag is, you might be stretching them out quite a bit.

I have a older style 7MDH that I can photograph it next to. I know the size specs are similar, but you can definitely pack more gear in the UD70.

Bag size internal:
TT UD70_Pro ID: 14.5” W x 12.25” H x 6.5” D (37 x 31 x 16.5 cm)

The 5D-II with the 70-200mm f/2.8 mounted is 10.75" long, so it will fit vertically with 1.5" to spare. When mounted to a 100-400mm it is about .25" shorter.

You won't be able to store 2 lenses of this size in two rows side-by-side within the bag thickness since the hood on this lens is 4.4" in diameter and the bag is 6.5" deep (thick). Keep the big lens on your camera, or store it next to a flash or something when not mounted.
