I was covering a first round CCS playoff game this last Friday and my photo editor was very insistent that I capture an emotional celebration or a loss shot from the team I was covering. Well, it was a huge 48-0 loss and I captured the below pic with less than a minute left in the game. While I didn't think the shot was news worthy of print, I thought it sums the essence of a big loss and for some of the seniors their very last ever football game.

The pose is good. Shame you couldn't get in front of him, but in a situation like this you are pretty limited. Try a closer crop as well, there's a lot of empty space that doesn't need to be there.

Yeah, I agree. A closer crop may have more impact since he won't compete with the empty space and headless duo in the BG. Shoot closer, crop closer!

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!!! I totally agree with both of you.

I didn't give this image that much time or love as I have no plans to ever use it other than this post, it was straight out of the camera just resized for posting. The majority of my high school football coverage was spent with this team this season, starting with pre-season to this final game. I came to know most of these players and how much heart & soul they put into every game. To a lesser extent, I guess, I was feeling the pain of this loss and end of season their as well. Although I will be assigned to cover another post-season game and team this week, I really enjoyed my time I spent covering this particular team and it will be missed.

Thanks again!

Picture tells a thousand words... How many times have we seen these scenes or heard that phrase?
