I have a problem with my camera, i get these wierd lines running through my pictures, it only happen when the picture is dark.

http://bildr.no/view/531754 (external link)

It goes through the top (landscape) and the left side.
Have anyone had this problem before, or know how much it would cost to fix it?

Its a canon 5d Mark 1, no warranty :(

Is that with flash. Maybe your shutter sync speed is to high or your shutter is failing. I don`t think it a Sensor issue.

Knud

This guy did some modification work to cause it.
*******
so I did the cactus radio trigger mod (antenna on the transmitter) and to my surprise I discovered the following effect:
the bands occur not only when the transmitter is mounted on the hotshoe, but also when it is near the camera.
the affected sensor was the full frame cmos in canon 5d
the smaller sensor of canon 20d was also affected, but to a lesser extent, (bands are clearly visible after boosting the raw brigntness adjustment up a one stop. see here
the mod I did was basically aKuster (external link) based mod - the difference is that I used a copper TV wire instead of an antenna - so it would be cool is someone with that mod and a 5d could check if the dedicated 433 mhz antenna mod also produces this effect.

the good news is that it is not a permanent damage - at least not after about 200 exposures,

anyway - for me that make the mod unacceptable, even if I finally reached a 99% reliability in studio conditions.

Found a better link. Apparently, it's not only the modded ones

Check out the banding in http://photodecal.org …/main.php?g2_itemId=46122 (external link)

Looks pretty much the same as the OP's to me?

I'll tell you I am getting PW's when I get my lighting setup. I've read enough about the quality difference between Ebay triggers and others. I may however be shooting PCSync for the next while.
