Just out of curiosity, what did you choose and why? I see a bunch of people who I respect on here use quite different lineups.
24L + 50L
or
35L + 85L

Man I loved my 50L, the 35L was good but I didn't spend enough time with it to really get to know it well enough. The 24L looks sweet, and one could save a little money with the MKI version. The 85L is going to visit for a while and while I like my 1.8, the 1.2 is going to win me over. 24mm to 85mm seems to much of a gap and 24mm seems a bit too wide, where 35mm could be used for general use. So, leaning the 35/85 direction.

What did you pick?

35L/85L here too. Best FLs for me after lots of trial and error.

I use my 35 and 135 the most when out shooting. I also have the 200 but I only take that one for when I do specific shoots (birding, sports,...). Tried the 50 but I found it was just a bit too close indoors.

Yeah, I can't get over how much the 35L has gone up. Crazy! I'd add it today if I could...Hah, I sold the 35L I got in trade for 975, shipped and paypald, about 15 months ago.

Mike...you had a great 35L....wish I still had it.

I am thinking my MKIII with a 35L, 50L and 85L....would make me very happy.

If I could only have two....probably be 50L and 85L...

for me it's the 24L and a 50 (sigmalux or Nikon's if you're on that system). If I were to go to a cropper it'd be ~35mm (24L) and ~75 (the same 50)? Not sure. I've seen a few guys here with the 35mm and 85mm combo who's work is simply amazing, but for whatever reason that combo isn't my best -vs- the 24 and 50. And I've owned the 20, 24, 35, 50, 85 and 135 at different times just to see what suited me best.

Heh, there's not a day that goes by I don't beat my head on a wall for some reason over our transaction :D
I've got the poor mans 50/85 right now and I almost have to force myself to use the 50. The 50L though, was another beast entirely though.
Not much love for the 24 yet though! Where's Tim and his two cents :D
Ben, how are you getting along with the Sigma 24?

I don't own any of the L primes at the moment. That's soon to change though.
I would have to go with the 35L/85L combo.

when out shooting for myself, 35L + 135L works well with the 135L mounted on the 5dii. I can get street candid shots with the 135L and then wide with the 35L

I'm definitely in the 24 + 50 club. The 35 + 85 is a nice option too, but for me the 35 isn't quite wide enough and the 85 is just a little long.

For the amount of use they get, my lenses go like this:

50
24
85
135
14

I have 4 and they all get a use with the 35L the work horse. 2 5Ds
24L
35L
85L
and 200 2L (probably my fav)

Got along fine for quite a while with the 35L & 85L combo though.

For what I shoot, it would be 85L/135L for outdoors - but if I'm shooting in the studio, it's the 50L/85L combo.

50 is the only focal length I shoot at constantly.
