We are buying a 2nd computer so my husband can help me edit. Can photoshop and lightroom be installed on 2 computers, AND run at the same time?

Thanks!!!

I'm not too sure about LightRoom, but I imagine it's the same as with PhotoShop. With PhotoShop CS4, from personal experience, you can load the software on two computers without any issues. From what I understand, that's the maximum amount of installations allowable under a single license.

I've come across some sites that say that you can't have them running at the same time...and then I have others saying that you can. So I don't know what one to believe??

There are restrictions, as I recall. The Adobe site will have a FAQ on the subject and they are the final authority. I run one in my desktop and the other in a laptop and they are never being used simultaneously.

IIRC, the licensing agreement allows for two intalls but you are not supposed to have them running simultaneously.

The key is, you are only supposed to have one running at a time, but the truth is that adobe can't do anything to stop you from running it on both at the same time

This is correct. The license says you can only run one at the same time. The 'software authorization' required run it will allow up to TWO authorizations. However, there is no way anyone will know if both are running at the same time.

So you're telling me that the guy who's been peeking in my bedroom window for months is NOT from Adobe? ;)

Some software does check that two machines on the same network aren't running with the same serial number. I have no idea if photoshop does this or not.

You should buy two licenses if you want to use two machines at a time.

they actually can, and some programs do, like Office student version does... until you tell windows firewall to block office from accessing the internet ;)

So then how does Microsoft Word know that it's running on my laptop and refuse to start on my desktop?

You know you can set windows firewall to block office from directly accessing the internet over certain (useless except to stop you from using both) ports ;)

It's totally possible, it's done over the network obviously.

Well, if they were windows machines that might work, but they're both Macs. ;)
