My friend chris and his soon to be wife kelly asked me to take some shots of them. Wanted to make sure i did it as the sun was going down. I think they turned out pretty good but want to see what you guys think. Any advice? These were all taken w/ my 5d and either 85 1.8 or 24-70. Used 1 580ex through softbox

Your lighting looks terrific. I like all of them except 2 and 3. The level you are shooting from (slightly lower) is not flattering to her. Sometimes I take a small stepstool with me to get me up higher a little bit.

Use longer focal length. Look at her face which is nearer compared to his and see it looks big. Work on posing and tell clients about clothing choices.

I'm not fond of the lighting... I think the flash overpowers--particularly in two and three. Moving the flash off camera would help, but that makes the shoot a lot more complicated. If you use a stroboform and the stepstool suggested earlier, the lighting might be more attractive. JMO...

I agree here. The lighting is too strong to me and takes too much away from the ambient. Definately need the flash off camera.
#4 with a much tighter crop might have the most potential here. Your colors on the others look good and your sharpness is there. With her height, I would shoot from high to low.

The flash is off camera through a softbox. I might of just put it a lil close on those 2.

They look really good to me but I am just a beginner. You picked an excellent location and time of day for the shots. I am curios as to what softbox you used for these?

Thinking about getting a softbox but dont know what size i want or need for location shots like yours.
