Here's a couple of pictures from last Sunday with us winning the Semi-Final game. Now we head to Ford Field to try and win back to back State Championships. This year I will be on the Field shooting. I rented a 70-200 f/2.8 IS. The shots below are with my 55-250 IS.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

Well - it's too bad your not playing the 1PM game - I'll be shooting the 10AM game, we could have run into each other. Last year, I shot with a 70-200 f/2.8L (NON IS) with a 1.4TC at 3200 1/640 and average but some at 1/500. I felt a little small, since some of those guys had the big guns, 300, 400 and I believe a 500 in there. I was going to rent some big glass this year but felt I got good enough results with my gear. Good Luck!

These aren't too bad, but you should get lower and try to shoot against cleaner backgrounds. Put up the shots after the game!

Goodluck!

Magic, I'm going to be down at the 10 AM game too. Shooting the rematch of BC vs CFFP. Now I just gotta figure out how to shoot those terrible socks(can't resist). I think I'm going to go with my 70-200 f/2.8 and 1.4 TC although I do have a 300 f/4 I can use as well. I think I want the versatility of the zoom though.

Also, you can walk behind the team box to get from end to end right? I don't want to get stuck on one side of the field or the other.

BC vs CFFP in the Superior Dome...BC had a longer drive, it might be different this time - though I'll be pulling and shooting for the Trojans. I take it you have a Field Pass? If you do, you will still need an armband that will be given out just before the game. You can roam freely sideline to sideline - endzone to endzone but don't be on or cross the yellow dash line which is about 6' off the sideline. I had my foot on the yellow line and was asked nicely to step back. Also, there is a press room which is a nice place to set your gear or whatever - just up the tunnel. I agree with the 70-200/1.4 since I haven't shoot with the 300/f4 - not knowing which is fast focusing. I like the zooming ability. Good Luck!

The second one is probably one of the best 55-250 lens shots I've seen, regardless of the horizons and space in front because of the angle shot.

EOS 7D Sigma 70-200 F2.8 (1.4 extender outdoors) are the workhorses. 50D for backup, EF 70-300MM USM f/4-5.6 IS, Freelance photographer for local newspapers and my website viewthroughmylens.net (external link)

My goal is to get there by 1:00 to see the Lowell and Inkster game but it depends on what time my wife gets back from her morning of black friday shopping. It's a 3.5 hour drive so I hope shes back home by 9am. If your watching I'm sure I will be the only Photographer with a blue Montague hat on backwards.

Thanks DHMN, I really do like this lens for a cheap zoom. Here are a couple of more shots from the game. This number 22 is a Freshman we pulled up from JV after the end of the regular season. With how good he is now I can't wait to see how he is in a couple of years as a Junior or Senior.
Both of these were shot at 1/640 F/8 ISO400. It was actually a hazy afternoon so I bumped up the Fstop to help eliminate blowing out the sky. The first shot was zoomed in at 171mm and the second at 65mm.
