I just wanted to share the good news with all the folks here at POTN. I recently made a post showing some pictures of Reptar, my Chinese Water Dragon. I also had mentioned that I had some eggs incubating at that time, ofcourse with him being the father.

Well....

One of the little devils decided to hatch! I can't handle the little guy too much so after moving him to the new tank I could only shoot from above and through the glass. The photos aren't great but the little guy is a cutie, and tiny at that!

Take a look!

This little guy is less than 24hrs old, and hasn't even opened up his eyes yet. Actually, he scared me half to death this morning as I thought he was not breathing at all, only to find out he's only breathing every couple of minutes since he's so young.

And don't worry about how....deformed? he looks....he just hasn't become lively enough to start moving anymore than just random slight movements.

Yeah, he's a cutie. No, I haven't named him yet and my girlfriend wont let me until we know for sure he's healthy and made it through the newborn phase. She says it would be harder if we named him/her and then it didn't make it. I already had a hard enough time yesterday morning because I thought he didn't make it, wasn't breathing.

Soon enough though, hopefully he'll be up and about today sometime.

Oh, I will definately keep everyone posted. I will also get more pictures once he's running around getting into trouble in his cage.

Oh, he has 6 more brothers & sisters currently incubating but it was a different clutch so they wont hatch until somewhere around Christmas day.

Unfortunately I ended up tossing every egg except this one from the last clutch do to them going bad.

AND, my female Yoshi is yet AGAIN preggo so I have another 6-8 eggs to look forward to soon.

I REALLY need to get another terrarium to separate my male sooner or later, for now all the little ones will just have to go get new good homes for them. =(

He's got a big head! I'm glad he came from an egg rather than a birth canal LOL

Wow, very cool shots! Congrats on the new addition! I hope the rest of them hatch nicely as well. I'll be on the lookout for more photos. :) Are you keeping all of the babies?

Thanks for the compliments and comments everyone! He finally opened his eyes and ate last night, unfortunately he passed this morning.

=(

He will get a good burial, and hopefully it was just due to him being part of my females first clutch. The next clutch will be the judge of that tho.

Thanks again for all the comments and good thoughts. ^_^

that's sad he didn't make it. I know nothing about breeding reptiles but I would imagine they need to be fairly lively in a short time or they will be gobbled up by something else. Can you get some help and advice from an experienced reptile person, clearly your dragons want to breed, you just need to know how to get the little ones to adulthood. Good luck with it, they're lovely creatures.

AWWWWWWWWWWWW :( I'm so sorry for your loss! It's awful when any pets pass away.
I hope the rest of the bunch are healthy and well.
