My Uncle told me that 9 gravels and a cat turd can purify any water.

I carry Fat Tire.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

No, I don't filter or boil my water. I have drunk water from natural sources all over the continent, for decades, and never, ever gotten sick. Of course, I only drink from water sources that are far from human development.

I know too many people who say they never filter water in streams or lakes but none of them can never say they didn't get sick once in a while. Hawaii has a different problem than they do in let's say Colorado. So I've switched from a pump filter type to the following SteriPen. Worked great in both Alaska and Hawaii in the back country.

Yeah, not treating your water is just asking for trouble.

I always carried a First Need filter and an empty Nalgene bottle. It was the best balance to get an unlimited water supply with minimal weight. Since my hiking was mostly done in the Rockies, there was never any shortage of streams to pick from.

I carry a hydration bladder with an inline filter (geigerrig). I snagged them both from a daily deal site.
