this is my first time doing head shots in a studio like situation.. really not a studio, but a public building @ Purdue..haha..

her look book is a square 10 x 10 so thus the square crops.. and face book looks great in square format too !

i haven't really read up on this, but with some phone calls to my buddy (misha hint hint) and talking about the lighting, he talked me into trying out different lighting..
and lighting from high to low it was !

BOOMED LIGHTING IS SO GOOD !..

also this is the first time using a boom arm..

it is a westcott boom arm, and i am glad i went and got one..

Nice stuff. I remember her other thread

So that boom arm just attaches to the top of a light stand, or does it come with a light stand attached?

#3, 4, and 5 rock! You used beauty dish as hair rim light? I thought beauty dish is usually used as the main light? (Obviously haven't had much experience with beauty dish).

@Tawcan,

yes i used the beauty dish with a grid on it to control spill light from going on the back ground.. BD's can be used however you want.. but here i used it as hair light..

Sam,

yes.. the boom arm just goes onto the light stand. there is a clamp one has to spin out to open and spin in to close..

you have to provide your own light stand, and i would recommend when setting up a boom stand system, get all the heavy duty parts !

thanks

Wow Pham! These are some of the best I have seen from you. Just one tiny thing..the skin tones are a little orange. My guess is that her makeup was a little orange to begin with but #5 has a definite color cast. You can even see it in the hair. The same in #1. Here is my fix. I used curves to bring down the red channel. Now that I look at it I might have gone a teeny bit far but I bet you can see the red color cast now.

Nice job. Only complaint is the heal tool being used on her forehead in some, mostly in #5 is really noticeable. Repeating skin/pores.

she is quite tan of a young lady.. i could turn her color down a bit as well.. i do like the bluesish grey look on photos.. like magazine like advertisements..

i will play around with them some more and see if can get cool outputs..

thanks queen

Hi Pham great work as usual.

What did you use to get the blown hair look? Any particular fan?
