To force aperture, don't you just stop the AP down to your desired selection, hold the DOF button (small black button near the lens release button), and take the lens off? Does it not display the chosen AP in the display on top? I keep getting "00" when attempting this.

30D is my body.....

TIA - bored on Turkey Day :o:lol:

I'm not sure what you're asking - could you rephrase it do you think?

You won't get a f/stop reading when the lens is reversed. This goes for adapted lenses as well.
I think that was your question...

My question is when using a reversal ring for a lens (poor man's macro), just like an extension tube......you don't have contacts, so there is no AF. When you take a lens off the body, you are basically at wide open aperture. I know there is a way to force the aperture to whatever f-stop you desire before removing the lens (basically so you aren't shooting wide open with the lens reversed)......I just can't seem to remember what it is.

Unless I am doing it right.....and the AP just isn't displaying. I thought I had remembered the AP displaying in the info before though......

Sounds as if you are doing everything correctly- with the lens mounted normally- select the Aperture you want, press the dof preview button and hold whilst you remove the lens. The lens will then hold this aperture until mounted normally again (you can check it is stopped down just by looking down the lens). As stated above when reversed there is no aperture info going to the camera so the aperture shows as 00.
