Clear sky star shots

Hi all,

Last week i spent a very enjoyable week up in the Lake district, Cumbria, UK.

On one night we had the most fantastic clear skies and being right out in the sticks did not have as much light pollution as i see back home.

I took these two exposures with my 7D using the 17-55 @17mm with the following settings: Tv 20s, f2.8 and Iso 3200.

Really amazing to see just how many stars are up there. :D

My personal favorite is the second one, but both shots are very nice...good capture!


Astro-Tech 8" f/4 imaging Newtonian,Baader MPCC,Orion ED 80 APO F7.5,Skywatcher EQ-6 Pro,ASGT, Modified Canon 50D, Meade DSI Guide Camera, 8" SCT dovetail mounted relic, Criterion Dynascope RV-6, modified 300D, custom astro shed,and still just getting started!

Thank you. This was the first time I've processed these type of shots so was pleased with how they came out.

You caught the big dipper quite nicely in the first one, and I love the composition of the second!
