hi guys,

I have been seriously considering picking up a new 7D to be used as my main body now that i don't have a great need (or desire) for a full size pro body. I think that on paper, the 7D is exactly what i need but i still wish to get some advice from people that use it for weddings, events, portraits etc..

i know that for wildlife and my birding, this camera will be impossible to beat but i guess i am looking for some reassurance that it will also rock in the portraits departments and events. for some reason, there aren't a lot of portrait samples from this camera and most samples here are of landscapes and sports.

i am really hoping to hear from people that have used this camera along side the 5DmkII, 1DmkIII etc.. and that can give me a real world opinion after actually using it.

as usual, sample will be amazing :)

oh i forgot to mention that i am also considering picking up the 17-55 2.8 IS to go with it for some lightweight walk around kit and would appreciate opinions about this combo.

I use for portraits, the detail is astounding... go for it.

It's good for candids due to its responsiveness, with other slower bodies you might find you're not getting 'the shot' 'cause its lagging around a bit

I've been using my 7D exclusively for portraits right now and it is amazing! Go for it! :)

I am also using the 17-55 2.8. In my opinion it's a must have.
