I was out looking for birds when I spotted this guy not too far from the road.

Something I've been hoping to see and capture. Very rare around here. Saw one at the side of the road once. Very nice shots, third one is my favorite.

Very nice. The third one is also my favorite of the series.

I've never seen one in the wild, so lucky you. However, you did a great job of capturing the shots and taking advantage of your opportunity.

Wow thanks for the nice comments, I live in an area where they are apparently not too uncommon although this is only the second time I've seen one. This cat must be somewhat used to people, I got out of the car to take the shots.

I shot these with my new 400mm DO with the 1.4, which I love. I just sold my 500 F4, I miss it but just a tad too heavy.

Not only difficult to find, also very quick to leave the area when people are present. We see them here in Maine from time to time but very seldom.
