I was going to post a larger links or even the RAW if necessary, this is the only way you can tell, i don't make web sizes as a comparison test unless i can post minimum 2000px.

Note: I didn't find the shot of same subject from Canon, so no need to do that, i saved you, hehe ;D

The web can't display more than 72 DPI.... actually I'm not sure if this is true... researching...

OK it seems this is what an average display can display. Prints are where it makes a real difference.

3:2 is a format (rectangle)
6x6 is a format (square)

645 is 6 x 4.5 cm film. The digital sensor mimics the size of the 645 film back.

35mm digital sensor is the same size as 35mm film frame.

Canon 1ds mark I is a 35mm digital. 8 megapixels.
Canon 1ds mark III has the same sensor but has more megapixels.

megapixels have not much to do with the ratio and the "film" sensor size.

Let's try this again, using the Nikon Coolscan 9000, how many MPs will the film produce at 100 ISO? :p
