hey Canonites, I'm wondering if anyone suspects USA inventories of the 1D4 will actually be depleted by June 2011?...
decided to get one, but was holding off 'till june so as to buy without incurring interest... but what good is cash without a camera?
Anyone hear anything substantial to that effect?

The 1D4 is a current production camera that was released in October 2009. There was a 2.5 year span between the release of the 1D3 and the 1D4. In June, it'll be 1.5 years since the release of the 1D4.

Why do you suspect Canon will stop production of the 1D4 early enough to cause supplies in the U.S. to dry out by June?

There was rumour a few months back hinting at something like this, 1D Mark IIN-style. It was during the heat of the 1D/1Ds convergence talks that have since cooled down to ice cold.

i would buy now, the way things are uncertain in Japan, stock may deplete and prices may rise, having money and no availability would suck ;)

Yup! It's already happening with the price increase for L glass.

yeah, i kinda feel like a heel for even asking the question in light of the problems they're experiencing in Japan, but, these two reasons were exactly what was going through my mind... man, i've been saving patiently, and the other day I saw B&H out of stock... maybe coincidence with the natural disaster...but got to thinkin....hhmm... June 2011?

oky, I appreciate the feedback, just wonderin if anyone heard anything substantial about it... gotta decide now... i hate interest, kinda feels like i've just giving money away... but in this case, it may just be worth the extra $100 or 2.

haha... i'm very very tempted... you know I'll post here cause I'm dying to join the 1D club... $3275 in the bank right now...burning a hole... May 1st Im projected to ~$4500... let me see where I stand...THATS ONLY A MONTH:shock:... and the final bill wouldn't be due till June 23rd...wait...you know...that sounds like it might just work! :p.... geeze, gang, now i'm all jittery with the agony of anticipation...

haha...and I was purposely not even looking at the picture of it so I wouldn't go through this...hahah... c'mon...share the blame so i can feel better haha...

realistically though, May 1st is doable and thats just a month... i'll exert some discipline and post up over that week-end with my new baby

Well, you can always use BillMeLater. Once the funds are in, you can pay it in full with no interest for six months. I personally haven't used it but, it's an option. ;)

I don't think my wife would really notice that much difference in body shape of a 5DMKII with grip to a 1Ds4...............

You could tell her you broke the 5D2 and the mode dial fell off. ;)

The rumour about a full frame 1D is back, this time to be announced in June/July. A full frame 1D would just about flip me out.

Also mentioned is a 40MP 1Ds IV, but not until 2012. :/

AWWWW, this thread is still going?!!!!!!

I am happy that i shoot with FF Canon and MF and LF, i will never wait Canon to give me that ultimate FF, i am happy with what i have now and no need to wait Canon 1 year or 2 or 10, whenever they decide to launch the new camera in the market i will be there, otherwise this waiting bug for unknown model/specifications is not gonna help me in anything.

Good luck all!!!
