Now CR says 5D III in a few weeks. I'm dizzy.

That's just a rumor from a dealer who supposedly knows something. It's CR1 and definitely to be taken with a grain of salt. I say its bogus. Stores have always been speculating on new releases.

CRGuy even said that some stores get a pre-announcement, but that's only <48 hours from the release time, and I'm sure it's under strict NDAs.

I'm about 100% sure it's bogus, too. There's just been a flood of rumours lately, all saying different things.

The real question is why do I even go to that site...

I shot action and still shoot action all the time with before my 5DCs and now my 5DIIs no problem. In fact I shot action on single frame. I don't use FPS and I get the shot. Some of the greatest action shots ever taker were taken with manual focus lenses and no FPS.

This is most certainly true. But if that were the end of the story, then all the action guys would be using 5Dmk2s and that would be that.

They're not. And there's a reason for that, which has nothing to do with marketing or with any lack of skill on their part.

It's simply this: while the 5Dmk2 may be able to get good action shots, it's simply not as good as a 1D series camera for it. The 5Dmk2 forces you to work harder for your shot.

There's no good technical reason the 5Dmk2 has the autofocus system it has -- it is strictly a marketing decision on Canon's part to keep the 5Dmk2 from encroaching on 1D territory.

The frames per second is a different story, however: that takes processing power, and Canon would have needed to add an additional CPU to raise that.

They were just being obtuse. :) Do we need to make the distinction between being able to do something and being able to do something well? ("well" being defined as at least within shouting distance of the state of the art.)

While my 5D's outer AF points are absolute rubbish, I still use them and use them often and get shots I enjoy. I can't help but think, though, that we've finally seen the last of the 5D's archaic AF system. Is it too much to ask for something close to, or dare I ask better than, the performance of the 3-year old D700? I hope not.

I agree, I think two Digic IV processors could push it up to 9-10 fps.

Fresh rumor (external link) from NL:

2011 April:

13th A Canon pro DSLR announcement is expected in the next month, according to reports from NAB (thanks) - a suggestion that continuous AF during video was a key feature. No details as to whether it was 5D3 or 1Ds3 replacement.
Note that this is not the recent 'CR0' dealer rumour from a couple of days ago, but that doesn't mean it didn't originate from the same place...

:confused::rolleyes:???

well, they said only a couple days and i should have it delivered by Friday this week ( i checked the UPS tracking, but it only says picked up by UPS)

When I got home today, I found the sales department had sent me a quote around 12:00 that INCLUDED store pick up! Let me tell you, i wasn't thrilled, i sent an email and asked them to refund the shipping for the hassel of the store rep telling me implicitly that it wasn't available for pick up.... its the principal of the matter... and I could of had it in hand today vmad

That sucks. Well, at least they refunded the shipping. Anyways, I can't wait to see your images from this camera. :)
