Spending $8K+ on a 35mm camera boggles my mind.
Not if you honestly need what it offers to make/keep you competitive in your market.
It's the "I Want" crowd and not the "I Need" crowd that I find most amusing.

I really hate spending money on a camera actually... but i need the image quality and the dynamic range to do what i do. 5d mark II and d3x are just not handling it so I have to include MF rent into my bills. Its actually cheaper to go MF now. Id buy a 1ds for its ruggedness but for the iq performance it will be mf. Sorry my math sucks Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.

The 1D3 was $4500, 1D4 $5000 and the dollar has been falling against the Yen seems like forever. With the bigger sensor it'll be $5999. This also means the d4 is going to be 16 to 18 MP too otherwise Canon would have used an image sensor design with a comparable pixel count.

So I will try to divulge as much information that I can (if ANY) about the upcoming release. (What, when, how much etc) Hopefully I'll at least get SOME information...but I doubt it. Doesn't hurt to try though. Bring a crow bar to pry some info. from the reps mouth!
