Tomorrow could be interesting then.

I'm kind of hoping the 1Ds3 might get an upgrade, but I wouldn't be disappointed if it was a 1D4 upgrade to FF at last, at least my wider half of my lenses will work on it how they were designed to do so. That would be cool :)

If a 1D5 is announced tomorrow (35mm sensor with 18 MP, 12 fps) it will not even be close to $7000 let alone over it. Just because it gets a larger sensor that does not mean the price has to go up by $2000+. It won't be replacing the 1Ds, since the 1Ds3 now has more than 18 MP (21). At most it will be $5999.99. Then look for a upper 30s to low 40 MP 1Ds4 next year at $8500.

so you are saying Tuesday is a lower MP full frame at less than 6K? Better than a 5D 2

next year is the MF competitor? $8,500

i really hope they don't eliminate the 1.3x. it's a great compromise that produces great results.

that 1.3x comes in super handy when shooting wildlife and sports. i can always find a lens to go wider...but it's tougher to get it longer....

.........with out breaking the bank

18MP full frame sounds interesting, I wonder if that is just to get the FPS out of the processors or if it will have some amazing ISO or more DR?

Not that I can afford one but this stuff trickles down eventually.

Supposedly it has better/higher DR than the 1Ds Mk III, and yeah, 12-14 FPS is significantly higher as well.

If all this is true, sounds like a win/win situation. (I just hope they keep the built in/on grip).

Hope has nothing to do with it. It's inconceivable it would be anything other than a pro- built body.

I would not pay more than 5000$ for it. If that happens I will sell all my canon lenses and buy nikon d3s. I hope I would not get disappointed by canon

Exactly!

But you know how some companies are...a few consumers whine, and cry about something, ("Wahhhh it's too HEAVY with the built on grip...etc"), and they tend to CATER to the crybabies quite often.

But yeah, PRO BODY means/NEEDS Built in/on grip! YEAH BABY!!
