135 f1.8 IS ^_^ lol. IS is basically a standard now. but ya, where is that 1Ds4!? I reallly want it to be out already. It will clarify a lot of things for canon users. I mean, we'll know what to expect for the nest 3-4 years. lol. as nothing can clearly be better than 1Ds4 ^_^

In my opinion, IS needs to be considered a standard in all L-designated zoom lenses. Sony offers body-based IS so I think should Canon should cover their highest quality lens line at least in their zoom department -- it is already standard for supertelephoto lenses in the L line.

What would be really cool though is if they incorporate a synergistically applied in-body IS that mates with the lens and contributes to the IS of the total system (lens and body).

That would be stellar.

But yeah, I really do see IS being a standard in all recent and future L-designated zoom lens upgrades and debuts.

waving_odd,

Probably unlikely I think. Considering the importance of the camera, it will be announced with masses of advertising, which means that would need to have been placed by now. Surely someone would have leaked something if that was the case.

The dissappointing 60D was a very well kept secret, but it was known to be "coming soon", while the 1Ds is still very much under wraps. Lets just hope that when it does arrive its not suffered from the same wasting disease as the 60D.

On another tack, I see that Japans economy is suffering from "deflation". Now you and I might like our cash to go farther, so personal deflation could be good. But its bad news for exports because the goods become more expensive to us, the foreign buyers.

The one aspect that I like about the 60D is that Canon "went out there" to make the xxD series still relevant to their current marketing scheme for their 1.6x crop bodies. Whether or not you like Canon's differentiation efforts there, but what would you think about Canon taking that effort to differentiate towards the 1-series bodies?

That being said, if that is indeed why the wait has been abnormally long for the 1Ds flagship to follow the 1D, then so be it Canon. Take your time.

Don't. #@%!. This. One. Up.

"This is an exact quote of an email I received.
“2010 will be the year for the (semi-) pro’s due to the fact that Canon lost huge marketshare to Nikon.
The new year will bring no 60D, and no follow up for the 500D.

Just quoting this from the first page... gogo rumors!

I can wait for canon do bust this snazzy device out. Mainly because I will probably never get the chance to shoot with one, let alone buy one for myself. Who knows. Any idea what the pricetag on this thing will be?

Easily $8,000.00USD. Don't count on the MRSP being much less than that.

Rumors of the 1Ds Mk IV from CR1. We shouldn't believe it but, at least it's something.:)

I received a bunch of new messages regarding the 1Ds Mark IV yesterday.

All of them stated the camera would be available at Photokina.

No stats were given beyond a 29mp sensor from one person.

I'm bittersweet about the release date of the 1Ds

I don't mind paying a lot for a body that will only be updated every 3-4 years.

Update it every 18 months though like the xxD series and I'll be pissed.

They have to update it because of the release of 5D MKII.
