Help on how to achieve an effect

My church is having me do the pictures for the new website. I want to do one of the front doors open ant night the outside lit up a little and inside the door i want it a blue or yellow color using my sigma flash and a gel. How would i make it so the door is completely filled with color and the flash itself is not seen. i want the door full of color

Personally I'd do that in post processing by selecting the door area, and then changing the colour.

put the lite up high on a stand and boom arm and light it from top down above the door frame out of view.
