Great action series. Just curious, do you ever worry about potentially getting paint-spray on your expensive 70-200 f/4 lens?

I don't think these are dark at all. Considering the time of day these are great. What was your settings for these?

Nice pictures, yes a tighter crop would be good also try to avoid shadows.
I guess there is not much interest lately in paintball photos on this forum.

Agreed about the shadows, but nothing that postprocessing can't fix!

Spray? No. Getting shot? Yes.

Thanks. Don't really see them being too dark though.

thanks Gary. The whole field was almost covered in shadows so I didn't have much of a choice.

Guess not, we need more people to get pics on here to get it more recognized. :)

The unfortunate thing about paintball is the lack of diversity of action IMO. When you shoot from a bunker, you want to stay in tight, when you move, move low, etc. This leads to basically the same stock poses over and over, no fault of the photographer, it's just too hard to actually get something unique with such little differences. I'm not sure why, paintball is a blast to play, but just not a very photogenic sport to me it seems. The action just never seems to convey itself to still photography or even videography.

I don't mind the shadows in a few of these and with a bit of contrast and some play with the colors you could get a very cool, high contrast poster look to them.

After almost 10 years of shooting the sport all over the world I could not agree more with you this is why I prefer to shoot scenario events where the action is completely unpredictable. Scenario events frequently take place on massive fields and you never know what is going to happen or where the battles will be.
IMO Shooting paintball tournaments is easy because they are so predictable but scenario paintball is one of the most difficult sports to shoot and also one of the most physically demanding too since you are on the field embedded with the players for hours at a time. I also get shot much more often in scenario events and have more camera equipment damaged. Take a look at some of my work in Jungle Magazine and you will see the diversity and variety of this type of paintball photography

Scenario also allows for shooting some interesting characters depending on the theme of the event or just simply the characters that crawl out of the woods to play those events. Not knocking your work by any means, and I used to play paintball avidly, but sadly tournament paintball just isn't photogenic. Scenario I'll agree with you though.

The irony is tournament paintball as it exists today was supposed to be more photogenic! (Albeit for video)
