For a pro who wants full frame Nikon is definitely the way to go right now. The D700 is a pro camera. The 5D2 is a high end prosumer camera. The 1D4 isn't full frame, and then 1D4s when it arrives will be horribly expensive. Nikon just works far more often than Canon just works is the general idea.

The general sentiment on the pro forums are Nikon camera/lens combos do things more consistently and reliably than the 5D2 and Canon L lenses. Canon can't even calibrate their lenses properly, the best place to have Canon lenses calibrated is a third party guy called Toshio, but once he's had a camera and lens apparently they work spot on. Nikon gear tends to work out of the box. I know i've had more than more share of gear issues with Canon, but right now I don't want to take the financial hit to sell it and learn a new system.

Would you change to Nikon D700 if money wasn't an issue?

Very simple.....when you buy a camera you're buying into a system. Lenses and flashes to name a few. Only you can decide what's important for you.

I do like Nikon lenses over Canon's but they are too expensive... What about the 12MP over 21MP from the Canon. Is a big difference

I'd look into changing to the D3s if money wasn't an issue, though i'd want to compare with the 1D series first and try both out. The devil you know...

The answer is "70-200 2.8L IS II". ;)

As Canon are seeming to focus on bringing out the best lenses possible. I'll be sticking with them despite only being "prosumer" and not "pro" ;)

Nikon glass is good too, I'm just impressed with what Canon have done and continue to do with glass. Glass is where it's at.
